Happy September, y’all!
September is a special time of year, bringing new adventures for all. On APP’s end, we’re no exception, as we’re kicking off our second Burnout Support Program cohort today! Thank you to all who helped spread the word and/or are joining us ❤️🔥
With the newsletter, I’m trying something new this time: grouping the events and programs by type instead of neighborhood. Which do you prefer? Highlights
Robbeburg’s 50th Anniversary Fundraiser Celebration
Sat 13 Sep @ 14:00-18:00 — Rivierenbuurt
Celebrate 50 years of community with a carnival-themed afternoon, filled with face painting, games, crafts, and cupcakes — all friendly to babies and toddlers. 🎈 You’ll meet tons of other expat families living in Amsterdam, and get to support this awesome playspace becoming even better in the many more years to come. This class by de TheaterIJ encourages your toddler’s imagination to soar by bringing picture book stories to life through theater and dance. Parents are welcome to observe! For toddlers ages 2-4.
Mon-Sat starting 1 Sep @ multiple times — Oud West
Introduce your toddler to different dance styles through playful themes that resonate with their world: like the jungle, the circus, the farm, holidays, and the seasons. Damoves has multiple classes almost daily for both 2 and 3 year olds from their two locations in Oud West.

The Mallow Garden hosts a nurturing space for babies 0-6 months that facilitates respectful bonding and natural physical development. Pre- and post-crawlers are welcome to explore at their own pace with their parents in a peaceful, unhurried environment that embraces Pikler philosophy.

Reconnect with your body in this gentle yoga class at KIEM Lokaal, designed for parents and babies together. Build strength through fun exercises while creating a joyful atmosphere for both you and your little one. Perfect for new parents.

This new class at Damoves features movement, breathwork, and relaxation specifically for (postpartum) moms. Babies are welcome to come along!
Music
Autumn music courses at Muziek op Schoot
Mon, Wed, Thu, Fri starting 15 Sep — Science Park
Muziek op Schoot offers two courses (8 months-2 years and 2-4 years) that immerse students in a world of songs, games, and dance. They sing about daily routines and animals, play simple instruments, and explore movement through activities like clapping, drumming, and dancing with ribbons. Plus, parents are given new songs to practice with the family at home!
Music with Toddlers (1-3 year olds)
Thu, Fri, or Sat starting 24 Sep — Multiple neighborhoods
The Music School of Amsterdam’s course for toddlers is designed to help discover the delight of music. The toddlers follow separated classes tailored to their age (1, 2, or 3 years old) and stage of development. Like above — sign up now as some courses are already full.
Music with Babies (for 3-12 month olds)
Fri or Sat starting 26 Sep — Multiple neighborhoods
The Music School of Amsterdam’s course for babies offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy music, movement, and connection together, to stimulate your baby's development and strengthen your bond. Sign up now if you’re interested, some courses are already filling up.
Museums
Flourish exhibition at Museum van Loon
Daily until 30 Nov — Grachtengordel
On show at the Museum van Loon is portraits of individuals that acclaimed artist Kehinde Wiley (Obama portraitist 👀) met in Suriname. The exhibition is Wiley’s visual response to the museum's historic collection and its ties to Dutch colonial history. The colors and contrast are incredible, perfect for babies and toddlers.
For the moms

We love MamaSocial over here at APP ❤️ They’re hosting their next Amsterdam brunch at Kanteen25. Treat yourself to delicious food, drinks, and nanny support for your baby in tow while meeting other moms who cherish a hot cup of coffee as much as you do.
Moms Night Out: The Release Room
Thu 18 Sept @ 20:00-22:00 — Spaarndammerbuurt
Meet some community members out on the dance floor! Think dancing the dark with a live DJ, but make it ✨ mom ✨ . If you’re craving a welcoming space for fellow moms to seize the moment, this is a great one to go to.
