30 Dec-13 Jan: Create a parent-proof new year's resolution (#4)
We did it; we reached the end of 2024 🎉 I’m grateful for all of the personal, professional, and APP (!) growth this year — but perhaps it didn’t need to be quite so chaotic 😅 Coach Isabel Theissen has advice for those of us craving structure amidst the inevitable pandemonium of parent life in 2025. Let’s set some goals together 💪

👩⚕️ Dear Dr. Mom: How can I set and achieve goals now that I have a kid?
Our expert this week has bad news for us parents excited to jot down 2025 resolutions: It’s probably not going to work. Only 6% of people stick with their resolutions for the whole year — and I bet most of them aren’t caring for a tiny human 😅
Reconnect with your core values so you can focus on what really matters to you.
So, what should you do if you want to balance (or prioritize 🙏🏻) personal growth with family responsibilities in 2025? Coach Isabel Theissen has shared with APP her free priority-setting exercise that you can do in just a few minutes at home, to help you thrive personally and professionally in the new year.
Discuss Dear Dr. Mom: Core Values Circle
Mon 6 Jan @ 13:00 — Oud West
Want to do the exercise with an accountability buddy? Join our discussion circle on 6 January at Sticky Fingers in Oud West! We’ll talk about the exercise and brainstorm ways to turn your core values into actionable goals 💕 Little ones welcome.

Our popular €2 Sale is back again in February!
🗓️ What’s happening around town
At year’s end, I wanted to highlight some stellar events APP is planning in early 2025 🤩 All events are baby-friendly and run as non-profit, to keep costs as low as possible for parents ❤️
Here’s what we’re working on together with our community:
❤️🔥 Burnout Brunch: Navigating Stress and Burnout as a Working Parent (Sat 25 Jan)
Did you know that 65% of working parents suffer from burnout symptoms? I’m one of them 🫂
We’re hosting a brunch to talk about navigating stress and burnout as a working parent. There will be an expert panel of two specialized career coaches and a psychotherapist, followed by small peer support groups over a tasty meal at Hannah’s Restaurant.
❄️ €2 Sale: Winter Edition (Sun 16 Feb)
Have a pile of clothes, toys, and books that your baby has outgrown but you don’t have time to sell? Now’s your chance — without the hassle of Vinted 🙌🏻
Our popular community €2 Sale now has two separate sessions for babies and toddlers 🛍️ Find quality clothes, toys, and books for free to €10, grab a taco from fellow mama Kitchen of Rissa, and socialize with other parents contributing to the circular economy just like you.
Plus the recurring events:
Next on Fri 10 Jan @ 10:00-12:30 — Oud West
Join other parents for a casual coworking morning. Show up anytime and feel free to bring your baby; there’s a play area and a library in the café.
Next on Mon 20 Jan @ 15:00 — Rembrandtpark
A centering community walk around the park. Babies and dogs welcome; or come just yourself!
We’ll be back next issue with more neighborhood events!
Have an amazing new year 🎉 Until next time,
Alex from the Amsterdam Parent Project (APP)
